Quick Cap:
Trailing 4-1 in the 7th, the Reds offense came alive and plated three runs to tie the game.
But tied in the 8th, Fernando Cruz walked the No. 8 and No. 9 hitters with 2 outs and Corbin Carroll lined an RBI single. Ballgame. That's eight straight losses and 11 of the last 13. The Reds freefall to 16-21 on the season. They are 1-7 in 1-run games (34-29 2023).
Notes:

Offense: 9 H, 3 BB, 6 K

The three run 7th was their first multi-run inning since April 30 vs Padres and matched biggest since a three run 5th April 28 vs Texas.

17 runs during eight game skid: 4-3-2-1-1-0-2-4. Outscored 43-17.
They have scored 5 runs off the opposing starting pitcher over the last eight games: 49.0 innings.

Big outs on the bases: Pinch-runner Stuart Fairchild doubled off on a Jeimer Candelario fly out to CF as the potential tying run in the 8th. He was running on the pitch and slid headfirst into 2nd. Down 2 w/ 0 outs in 6th, Elly picked off/attempting to steal 3rd after a leadoff BB & SB. Of course, a Fraley hit followed.

Spencer Steer: Game tying 2-out/2 run 1B in 7th. First multi RBI game since April 13

Candelario: 2 H, HR Following up his 3-hits Wednesday

Elly: 2 H, BB, RBI, 2 SB (23), CS (4). Broke and 0 for 17

Benson: 2B, BB. 2 K. Snapped 0 for 15

Hunter Greene: 5+ IN, 4 H, 3 R, 5 BB, 6 K, 84 pitches/44 strikes. Tied a career high BB.
Velocity noticeably down. Fastball averaged 95.4/season 98.0. Was searching/feeling his way, using splitter and curve more early. Joc Pederson HR in 1st ended his 14.2 innings scoreless streak. Had made four straight starts w/o allowing a HR. Reds have scored just 20 runs while he's in the game over his 7 starts.

Bullpen:
Nick Martinez inherited 2 on/0 out at 1-1 6th. Allow 1B to score tiebreaker and sac fly for another run. He allowed his own run in the 7th.
Cruz: Allowed back-to-back 2 out BB in 8th before Corbin smoked his RBI single.

How they scored:
5th: Candelario HR, 1-1
7th: Elly RBI 1B, 4-2 Diamondbacks
7th: Steer 2-out RBI 1B, 4-4
