ABOUT ERIC DETERS
Eric Deters grew up on a farm in southern Kenton County. He learned hard work from working on the farm from age eight to the age of nineteen. He still helps put in hay. He received his high school education from a school like no other in the country - Covington Latin School. It is an accelerated college preparatory school. Eric graduated in 1979 at the age of 15. He received degrees in history and business administration from Thomas More College and his law degree from Salmon P. Chase College of Law. He was the youngest lawyer in the state in 1987. He has practiced law for 20 years. After becoming partner in the firm his father founded, he began his own in 1998. He is licensed to practice law in Kentucky, Ohio and Florida. He also handles cases in Indiana and other states through special permission. If there are a few words which summarize Eric’s reputation and attitude as an attorney, they would be: fighter, passionate, aggressive, reasonable, tenacious and hard working. Eric credits his work ethic to his upbringing on the farm. He credits his passion to his Scotch-Irish heritage on his mother’s side and his love of history. From reading countless historical biographies, Eric learned the value of passion and persistence. He puts these two virtues to work for his clients. Eric doesn’t golf. He plays competitive football. The team he quarterbacks is the best full contact flag football team in Greater Cincinnati. Once the Chairman of the Kenton County Republican Party and Fourth Congressional District of Kentucky, Eric is now a Democrat. Fighting for the underdog as a trial lawyer, caused him to change parties. Republicans blame trial attorneys for problems they did not cause. He works 20 hours a day. |

Quote Of The Day
Thursday 08-28-2008 10:21am ET
"Books are welcome, assiduous companions, always ready to appear in public or to go back in their box at your command, always disposed to speak or to be silent, to stay at home or to make a visit to the woods, to travel or to abide in the country; to gossip, joke, encourage you, comfort you , advise you, reprove you, and take care of you; to teach you the world’s secrets, the records of great deeds, the rules of life and the scorn of death, moderation in good fortune, fortitude in ill, calmness and constancy in behavior. These are learned, happy, useful, and ready spoken companions who will never bring you tedium, expense, lamentations, jealous murmurs, or deception." Petrarch
I had no idea who Petrarch was until I read about him in the book I’m reading - "The Foundations of Western Civilization." He was an early leader of what we know as the Renaissance. Isn’t this quote great about books. I love books. I have a great collection. I buy books now even when I don’t have time to read them. LOL. When my grandfather Deters died, the family gave me his books. They are a prized possession. The writer/philosopher Erasmaus said he spent his money on books, and if there was money left - food and clothes. I have a very bad habit of spending too much money on books, CD’s and DVD’s. Last night I bought a new movie camera and threw in Avril Lavigne’s latest CD (My kids laugh at me. I’ve been hearing her music at the gym. She rocks!), they best of 70's lite FM; a DVD about Presidential Elections 1952 to present, the "Rolling Stones: Shine a Light"; the True Story of Charlie Wilson; the Great Indian Wars - 1540-1890, a CD of Abba Gold. How do you like that mix? LOL. When I’m "rich and famous", all day and night it’s going to be - read, write, watch movies, listen to music, and exercise. I need to live near a movie theater, Best Buy and Barnes & Noble.

He’s still the master. My buddy, Randy McCafferty, who is an Air Force Chaplain, who like me marvels at Bill’s "survivor ability", use to joke how Bill is a cartoon - Wiley Coyote. He never dies. LOL.
Joe Biden

Great speech last night. I love Joe Biden. I also can connect to his story. He lost his wife and daughter in a car wreck and became a single Dad. And a great one he was and is. I did not lose a child, but when my first wife died of cancer, I became the "world" to my children and they mine. I had to step up to the plate and I did. Sure, I’m loud at times. Sure, I’m out in the public all the time. But, I have my priorities straight. When Joe Biden’s son said no matter what, when or where they called him, he took their call, I nearly cried. For the last ten years, I’ve done the same. When my children call, I could be in a meeting with the President, I’ll take their call. You always do the same. God Bless.

What a great lady. I like her too.
Bruce Springsteen

I like the conventions choice of "The Rising" by Springsteen. I’m still for McCain even though my musical hero isn’t. LOL.
Comedic Musings

Aren’t fortune cookies a joke. I got one last night that said: You love your family. Wow. Way to take a chance on a prediction. They say things like: You will get hungry. You need to sleep. Don’t you wish you opened up a fortune cookie and it said: You will get a pay raise this Friday. Or, you will pass the test you take tomorrow. I think I’ll start a fortune cookie company that goes out on a limb. LOL.
"Hard Knocks - Dallas Cowboys"
Thursday 08-28-2008 10:17am ET
I’m lucky. I’m a bog Cowboys fan. I’m getting to see their Preseason on HBO’s Hard Knocks. Damn. What a great stadium they are going to have. What a franchise different in attitude than the Bengals.
Quote Of The Day
Wednesday 08-27-2008 10:59am ET
"You know, the greatest epitaph in the country is here in Arizona. It’s in Tombstone, Ariz., and this epitaph says, ‘Here lies Jack Williams. He done his damndest.’ I think that is the greatest epitaph a man could have. Whenever a man does the best he can, then that is all he can do; and that is what your President has been trying to do for the last three years for this country." President Harry S. Truman I love Truman! I provide a quote from a great Democratic President to honor the Democrats during their convention. What a great epitaph! I hereby declare that’s what I want. "Here lies Eric ‘Call Me Crazy’ Deters. He done his damndest."
Hillary Clinton
Wednesday 08-27-2008 10:58am ET
Again, unbelievable and amazing Obama didn’t choose Hillary. What a speech without helping him! I have two observations which I’ve not heard from national pundits:
1. I do not believe the "torch" has passed. I believe Hillary from out of her loss has shown the mettle that she is the new leader of the Democratic Party. Obama is blowing this race. Hillary will become the party’s savior in 2012.
2. No one has raised this question:
If Hillary won, would she had chosen Barack? Absolutely. She would have been pragmatic and smart, picked Obama and marched to victory.
In addition, I’m convinced Hillary’s supporters know Hillary is just being a good soldier and they also know she had debt to pay. Finally, they know if Obama loses, she wins.
Obama’s failure to pick Hillary as VP will go down in history as one of the biggest political blunders in history.
McCain will be President. It’s remarkable in light of the state of affairs.
Hillary is upstaging Obama and Biden at the convention. It’s great theater. Michelle Obama was not smiling at Hillary’s over the top welcome from the audience. LOL.
