BACK TO SCHOOL MEANS TRAFFIC PATTERN CHANGES

No matter how you spell it you can expect heavier traffic on the highways now that schools are getting back in session. Here are some stats from ODOT.
In 2007, there were more than 100 traffic-related injuries in school zones near Ohio’s elementary and middle schools. Between 2005 and 2007, school zones were also home to more than 1,000 crashes.
In addition to school buses, more parents will be back on the route to school. According to numbers from the National Highway Transportation Administration, as much as 25 percent of the typical morning rush hour traffic is school-related.
A BUSY INTERSECTION IS GOING TO GET WORSE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS

I-75 at Union Centre Blvd is the place and here is the info fron ODOT.
Temporary closures will be in place next week to accommodate interchange work on the ramps from Interstate 75 to Union Centre Blvd. The ramps from north and southbound I-75 to Union Centre Blvd. will be closed for 15-minute periods from 11 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3 to 4 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4 and from 11 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4 to 4 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5. In addition, the Union Center Blvd approaches to the ramp will have lane closures in place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. both days. Similar closures will again be in place on the ramps from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Sept. 8-10; lane closures will also be in place on the Union Centre Blvd. approaches from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
SR 232 CLOSURE SCHEDULED

If you use SR 232 in Clermont County you need to know this update from ODOT! The detour is going to cost you some time.
On Wednesday and Thursday, September 3 and 4, SR 232 will be closed for culvert replacement work approximately 1-1/2 miles south of SR 125, between SR 125 and SR 222. Northbound SR 232 traffic will go north on SR 222 to east on SR 125, back to SR 232. Southbound SR 232 traffic will follow the same detour in reverse. Detour is an additional 7.17 miles or 12 to 15 minutes.
I-275 CONSTRUCTION ENTERS PHASE 3

Here is a look at the construction project on 275. In this shot from Mosteller, you can see that the express lane is now gone from the eastbound lanes and has now been opened for the westbound side as the project inches closer to the finish in 2010.

SNIDER RD INFO FROM THE ENGINEERS OFFICE

William W. Brayshaw, the Hamilton County Engineer, would like to announce the closing of Snider Road, between Kemper Road & Hambletonian .
This closure will be during normal work hours and is scheduled to begin Tuesday, September 2, 2008. It is anticipated to last for four (4) weeks (until October 2, 2008, weather permitting).
Detour will be routed over Kemper to Solzman to School to Fields Ertel and vice versa
WORK CONTINUES ON SR 4

Work to widen State Route 4 from just south of Crescentville Road in Hamilton County to Commercial Drive in Butler County continues. The work will require frequent evening lane closures between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. The target completion date is Sept. 30.
CAN'T DRIVE THROUGH THE FOREST THIS SUMMER AND FALL

From the Hamilton County engineer's office... Forest Road, between Nordyke & Eight Mile Roads in Anderson Township is now closed. Work being performed by Hartman & Smith is water main installation, with two phases anticipated to last until October 2, 2008. The detour for the first phase of this project will be Eight Mile to Beechmont to Nordyke and vice versa.
8TH STREET VIADUCT NOW CLOSED TIL NOVEMBER

The 8th Street Viaduct is being refurbished. 8th St is closed between Freeman and State for about 6 months. In November, the viaduct will reopen but the project will continue until the end of summer 2009.
Detours:
WB on 8th: South on Freeman. Turn west onto 6th St, then merge with WB River Rd. Turn North on State and follow to W8th/Glenway.
EB Glenway: South on State, turn east onto River/6th St. Turn North on Freeman, then east on 8th.
